الرواية تدور حول إسلام و سلمى و قصة الحب بينهما و لكن هذه العلاقة تضبطها القيم والأخلاق الإسلامية و توضح مدى الالتزام من جانب سلمى التي لا تريد أَنْ تخالف الشريعة فيما يخص علاقتها بحبيبها إسلام و أنها لابد أن تكون في إطار شرعي.
